Rose-Marie DiRosa is President of Comptoirs Lamnex Inc, a kitchen and bathroom countertop manufacturer that is in the process of automating its manufacturing methods. She shares how her shift to Industry 4.0 began.

Ms. DiRosa took part in the Webinar on Women's Governance and Leadership in Innovation Ecosystems. Event presented by 4POINT0 as part of the First International Conference on Innovation Ecosystem Performance Policies, Practices and Processes (P4IE) May 11-13, 2021.

To begin with, Comptoirs Lamnex Inc. completed Investissement Québec's Industry 4.0 Audit program, which is now the ESSOR program, one of the objectives of which is to accelerate the realization of investment projects.

Subsequently, the company was able to register for the Innovative Manufacturing program, now Productivity Innovation, also from Investissement Québec. The program is dedicated to companies wishing to improve their competitiveness through innovation and productivity. Financing starts at $50,000.

"When we started the Audit 4.0 - a review of the company's financial situation - we realized that we were not really 4.0."

Keep in mind that since its inception, the 30-employee company has always handcrafted its custom orders, personalized to each customer. The financing allowed the company to purchase a gluing machine and the administration part of the factory was also greatly computerized.

Realizing the digital evolution, the countertop manufacturer is in the process of setting up an online store: "Lamnex would like to be on platforms to advance in the field, and be more creative in our products." By showcasing their products on web platforms, the company hopes to diversify their offerings beyond countertop manufacturing.
